Overview

NailSavvy is a booking and management platform for a Nigerian nail salon brand. The client needed a mobile-first site where customers could browse services, pick a time, and book — without phone calls or DMs. I designed and built it end-to-end.

The Problem

The client was managing bookings through Instagram DMs and WhatsApp — chaotic, easy to double-book, and unprofessional. They needed a real booking system that matched the premium feel of the brand.

What I Built
Booking flow

A three-step flow: pick a service → pick a date and time → confirm with your details. The calendar shows real-time availability pulled from the backend, so no double-bookings.

Admin dashboard

The salon owner gets a dashboard to see upcoming bookings, mark them complete or cancel, and manage their service menu and pricing.

Mobile-first design

80%+ of the client's customers are on mobile. Every screen was designed for a 375px viewport first, then scaled up. Fast load times were a priority.

Key Decisions
React over Next.js full-stack

The client didn't need SEO or complex routing. A React SPA with a lightweight API kept the bundle small and the UX snappy on mobile data.

What I Learned
  • Client projects need a tight scope. Define what's in and out before writing a line of code.
  • Mobile-first isn't just about CSS. It's about data usage, load time, and tap targets.
  • Admin dashboards are as important as the public-facing product. Don't under-design them.
